Southern Utah Post: Burningham launches his campaign for governor in Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY — Smaller government, less regulations and conservative values are the messages Jeff Burningham is spreading throughout the state in his first run for office.

A newbie to the political arena, Burningham officially threw his hat into the governor’s race on the steps of Utah’s capitol last week, making him the second Republican contender to announce his candidacy. He followed his announcement with a launch party Saturday in Cedar City on Southern Utah University’s campus where he once again told a room of about 200 voters what he brings to the table.

Marketing himself as an” innovative outsider,” Burningham says he is “not a politician” but a businessman who knows what it takes to build a strong economy.
